Editorial design for Made in Dickies, a book retracing one hundred years of Dickies through the eyes of French artist Lucas Beaufort. Originally founded in Texas in 1922, Dickies has evolved from a pioneering workwear manufacturer into a cultural icon embraced far beyond its industrial roots. Conceived as a visual journey through the brand’s history, the book brings together archival photography, vintage garments, personal stories and interviews, enriched by Lucas Beaufort’s playful illustrations and unmistakable artistic universe. The editorial design was developed to reflect the rhythm of this journey through time — balancing bold typography, immersive imagery and moments of visual breathing. Archival material and contemporary interventions coexist throughout the book, creating a dialogue between past and present while celebrating the authenticity and cultural relevance of the brand. More than a retrospective, Made in Dickies reinterprets a century of history through an artistic and deeply personal perspective, blending heritage, nostalgia and contemporary culture into a singular editorial experience. Commissioned as part of Dickies’ centenary celebration, the book ultimately remained an unreleased editorial project.
